LACE Welcomes Author William Schlichter!

LACE is excited to welcome author William Schlichter!

William Schlichter has a Bachelor of Science in Education emphasizing English from Southeast Missouri State and a Masters of Arts in Theater from Missouri State University. With seventeen years of teaching English/Speech/Theater, he has returned to making writing his priority. Recent successes with scriptwriting earned him third place in the 2013 Broadcast Education Association National Festival of Media Arts for writing a TV Spec Script episode of The Walking Dead.

His full-length feature script, Incinta, was an officially selected finalist in the 2014 New Orleans Horror Film Festival. Incinta received recognition again by being selected as a finalist at the 2015 Beverly Hills Film Festival for a full-length feature. Incinta has advanced in several other script contests, including most recently being an Official Selected finalist in the 2016 Irvine Film Festival. His next life goal would be to see his film transferred from the pages to the screen.

Writing has always been his passion even through traveling, raising twin children and educating teenagers. While he specializes in the phantasmagorical world of the undead and science fiction fantasy stories, William continues to teach acting, composition and creative writing.

LACE Welcomes Author Jared Vaughn!

LACE is excited to welcome back author Jared Vaughn!

Jared Vaughn is the author of the acclaimed novel The Longest Time. It’s a nostalgic story about a unique boy named Charlie, whose love for his childhood friend Lisa leads him to fulfill a heroic purpose. Readers of all ages have unanimously agreed that they “can’t put it down,” and are eagerly awaiting the sequel, Another Time. Jared’s vision extends beyond this series with his company, Time Honored Productions. He will be publishing a collection of short stories by new writers this summer, with more surprises in the works as well. He loves to encourage dreamers in his writing workshops and panels at comic cons and libraries, with a special emphasis on the youth. In addition to his writing and publishing, Jared is also known for his cosplay. He has appeared at many conventions as Marty McFly beginning on Back to the Future Day, October 21st, 2015. He’s quick to make you laugh with his impressions and costumes from all three films, often accompanied by Doc Brown. His cosplay has even included Clark Kent, Neo, and the highly original Mario McFly. Whether he’s riding a hoverboard or writing a story, Jared Vaughn encourages you to take Doc’s advice–“The future is whatever you make it. So make it a good one.”

LACE Welcomes The Burrow!

LACE is excited to welcome back The Burrow!

The Burrow, Manhattan’s chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance, is a student organization at K-State that’s dedicated to helping the Manhattan community through charity fundraisers and outreach efforts inspired by the Harry Potter series. The Burrow follows the Harry Potter Alliance’s vision as a nonprofit organization to use “fan activism” and fight for equality, human rights, and literacy.
In order to help food insecure students, The Burrow is holding craft sale fundraisers throughout this semester to benefit Cats’ Cupboard: The K-State Food Pantry. The Burrow’s eclectic assortment of handmade, nerd-inspired crafts include polymer clay figurines, coasters, Perler bead pixel art, recycled comic book page roses, and more. All proceeds of The Burrow’s craft sale will be donated to Cats’ Cupboard, and a donation jar will be available for those who wish to simply give money.
Cats’ Cupboard is open to all K-State students in the basement of Fairchild Hall. Students can find food, hygiene products, and cooking equipment there for free and may utilize the pantry as often as they see fit. For more information, see Cats’ Cupboard’s web page at www.k-state.edu/cats-cupboard.

LACE Welcomes Author Nicholas Forristal!

LACE is excited to welcome KSU alum Nicholas Forristal!

Born in the 80s during the age of Oregon Trail, Nicholas remembers the days before the internet, when the world was young and herds of dial-up BBS roamed the digital landscape in peace. Nicholas went on to college at Kansas State University and studied psychology. It was here, at the pinnacle of his lowly existence, that he met his future wife. After that, life became dull and work-centric, as adulthood typically does. So now he writes to fight back the madness, while his son plays with imaginary friends.
